put say =reply :clear To most, I am called 'Talinvor'...
pause 7
put get lyre from my case
pause 4
put act cradles his lyre across his left arm, his right poised above the
strings.
pause 6
put say :clear Again, many of you still may not be sure why a Dhe'nar might
be out here performing at Bardfest.
pause 8
put grin talinvor
pause 4
put act plucks a few chords of his lyre, seemingly at random.
pause 6
put say :wry Let me assure you, Dhe'nar are not emotionless, and yes - we do
sing... occasionally.
pause 6
put say =remark Though with my imagination, the topic the judges gave for
tonight.. well I could only think of one thing to do with 'finger' and 'honor'
pause 8
put grin wry
pause 5
put act begins to lower all but one of his digits to his fist, to show his
'honorable finger'...but then readily thinks better of it as he notes a few
glares.
pause 18
put laugh soft
pause 5
put say =speculate -That's- not going to win me over, I think.
pause 8
put act plays through a few arpeggios, the notes flowing up and down the scale.
pause 4
put say :thoughtful Well, I expect you all want to hear me actually DO
something.
pause 5
put grin
pause 3
put say :dramatic This is a tale of love, yet again - a song of love lost
pause 7
put act strums a flourish on the strings of his lyre, then dulls them quickly to
silence.
pause 7
put say :somber ...and forever mourned.
pause 6
put act swipes his fingers across the strings pulling forth a cascading melody as
each chord echoes into the next.
pause 9
put act strides to the front of the stage, his gaze fixating on something above
the audience. His voice echoes within the room as he then closes his eyes and
lowers his head.
pause 12
put sing :tender I loved you once and love you -still-;But in all things we knew our fate;Yet for a blessing, could not wait;I laid you down upon the grass; And lost ourselves in ecstasy
pause 17
put act tickles the strings with his fingers in a flurry of notes, raising a crescendo
to his melody before suddenly plucking a harmonized fifth chord that resonates
with his voice.
pause 10
put sing :slow ...Beneath the black ash tree
pause 7
put act pivots and moves back to center stage, turning back to face the
audience.
pause 5
put sing :romantic The eve drew on and night long passed; You carved our names into the bark; And traced your finger down the mark
pause 12
put act walks around the stage, as if circling something. His right hand lowers
a moment from the strings of his lyre and reaches out, as if gliding it around a
tall circumference.
pause 12
put sing :tenor Etching your love into my heart;I never will forget, you see;
;...Beneath the black ash tree
pause 11
put act flicks his fingers over the strings in a slow decrescendo, the notes
growing softer with his melody.
pause 9
put sing :soft The years have ended one by one;Returning to this sacred grove;I ducked beneath the branches
cove
pause 12
put act sweeps his right hand to the side, as if parting something before him.
He bends and weaves as if moving through something and strides forward to glance
upward.
pause 12
put sing :clear To cherish what you left behind;Calling forth what's left of -me-...
pause 11
put act lowers his left arm and reaches with his right hand to yank fiercely
at his shirt. Pulling it loose from his throat, a few buttons scatter and pelt
the floor as the garment
is ripped open, revealing black skin in stark contrast to the white of the silk.
pause 15
put sing :vibrant ...Beneath the black ash tree
pause 7
put act reaches his hand forward, he shifts his weight into it and lowers his
head as if leaning on something that isn't there.
pause 9
put act brings his hand back to his lyre and adds minor chords amidst the melody, giving the music a melancholy air.
pause 7
put breath out
pause 3
put sing :somber I thought time could heal, I was wrong; Now that you're gone, my heart did die;But thoughts of you still make me cry
pause 12
put act clenches a fist to his chest, curving his shoulders forward as if in
pain.
pause 8
put act drops his hand back to his lyre and to the lower chords. Like rain - the notes trickle
and fade from the strings.
pause 7
put sing :flowing
I traced a finger down the mark;To honor your sweet memory; ;...Beneath the black ash tree
pause 7
put act reaches upward with his hand, and with a finger - traces a pattern in
the air long since memorized. He sighs deeply and simply lets gravity drop him
to his knees.
pause 8
put kneel
pause 2
put sing :weak And lonely shall I ever be
pause 4
put act pulls a solitary deep minor chord from his lyre, the strings echoing
hollowly across the stage.
pause 7
put act closes his eyes and lowers his head, his hair falling across his face in
a black curtain.
pause 6
put act silences the lyre strings with the flat of his hand.
pause 3
put sing :soft ...Beneath the black ash tree
pause 4
put act loosens his grip on his lyre, the instrument nearly tumbling to the
floor. His right hand lifts to his face, and stretching his fingers and thumb
across his forehead - as he buries his head against his fingers.
pause 12
put act raises himself uneasily to his feet, and tucks the lyre back against his
chest as if it were a precious thing. He bows half-heartedly, and without
turning his back to the audience - takes a few steps backwards toward the
curtains.
pause 10
put stand
pause 2
